About this model.
The Aston Martin DB Mark III is the last model built at the works factory in Feltham, Middlesex. Redesigned at the hands of Tickford designer, Bert Thickpenny, who designed the body including the DB3S-style front grille which was to become a hallmark of all Aston Martin cars, right up to-date, and the beautiful Lucas rear light design which was inherited by the DB4. The DBA engine was also redesigned to give greater performance and reliability. The instruments are grouped together on the dashboard rather than being centrally mounted in earlier models which was also passed on to the DB4.
About this particular car.
Chassis No. 1568 is a right-hand-drive, UK-market car first registered on 22nd May 1958 and sold to The Honourable Richard Greville OBE who was the brother of the Earl of Warwick. The second owner was the Earl of Suffolk and there is continuous UK ownership information in the large history file.
The current owner has carried out an uncompromising labour-of-love restoration. Body and chassis have been restored by marque specialists and the entire powertrain has subject to a documented rebuild in our workshop.
The previous owner has also specified a series of upgrades that enhance the ownership experience, including:
Electric power steering and a compact, beautifully detailed and riveted, wooden rim steering set-up.
Sympathetically fitted hazard warning lights.
A 'Dynator' unit offering the vintage look of the original dynamo with the performance and reliability of a modern alternator.
A high-torque, modern specification starter motor.
Completely new wiring loom.
Combined, these enhancements bring reassurance, an ease of manoeuvrability and improved comfort to a 1950s sports car now fully compatible with modern roads.
Engine, gearbox and overdrive have been restored to equal heights with a modern Vetus cylinder block, steel crankshaft and connecting rods, forged Omega pistons and an Alperform Mk3 specific DBA aluminium cylinder head. The engine number stamping is original and matches the chassis plate.
What is it like to drive?
The driving experience is compelling. On twisty B-roads it feels light, exciting and responsive. On a motorway it will easily cruise at the national speed limit at low RPM. In 1958, it must have felt like the ultimate supercar. It does way more than hold its own in terms of both performance and handing in 2025.
How much does it cost?
This car is offered for sale at £235,000.
