About the Audi R8 LMS GT3.
The Audi R8 LMS marked a turning point in customer GT racing. Based on the production R8 supercar, the LMS GT3 version was developed by Audi Sport Customer Racing to deliver a highly competitive, low-maintenance, turn-key race car to privateer teams. With its mid-mounted 5.2-litre V10 engine, six-speed sequential gearbox and full aluminium spaceframe, it proved immediately dominant in global GT3 championships. Audi Sport’s ongoing commitment to supporting private teams continues to set new standards in GT3 racing, and the R8 LMS is a seriously competitive and well engineered contender.
About this particular Audi R8 LMS GT3 car.
Chassis No. 110304 is one of the first factory-built Evo 1 examples (Spec. No. GT3-017 MJ2011), delivered new by Audi Sport to Hitotsuyama Racing in January 2011 for the Japanese Super Taikyu Championship.
It went on to win the 2011 GT championship, contributing to Audi’s growing dominance in customer racing worldwide. That same season, this very chassis achieved another historic milestone: Audi R8’s 100th global race win – a feat acknowledged by Audi in an official press release, included in the car’s detailed history file.
From 2011 to 2016, the car remained in continuous use with the same team. No gaps. No missing years. A clear, documented competition history from day one – a rarity among early GT3 machines. The team documented that the car was “never crashed” during their entire competition ownership.
The extensive history file documents this car’s race results which also include a round from the 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup which was the leading endurance race series at the time and became the World Endurance Championship (WEC) which exists to this day. These show this car (race number #94) competing with works factory teams and amongst the likes of Mika Hakkinnen, Giancarlo Fisicella, Sebastien Bourdais, Anthony Davidson, to name drop a few.
Fuel cell, belts, carbon seat and driver nets are all in date for the 2026 season.
With GT3 cars now making this exciting new transition into the historic racing world, this car’s championship winning provenance cannot be overlooked and will always support and assist its eligibility regarding selection into exclusive or over-subscribed and invitation-only events.
Chassis No. 110304 offers a highly competitive entry point into a growing calendar of prestigious historic GT3 race events. Recent results for R8 LMS GT3 cars including as recently as October 2025 at Spa confirm that these early cars are still fast – both in its own GT3B class and also in the hunt for overall honours.
How does the car look now?
The car currently wears a bright purple livery wrap from the driver experience organisation in Asia where it has been most recently based. Browse the image gallery below. The racing images shown are of the car competing during the 2011 race season.
We think the original livery is stunning and would suggest returning the car to this look, celebrating its most successful period and supporting its unique race provenance and pedigree.
Where can this car race in 2026?
In motorsport, there is exciting news when it comes to racing pre-2015 GT3 cars. 2025 saw the start of a brand new GT3 race series in the UK under the umbrella of the Motor Racing Legends (MRL) series organiser.
This was quickly followed by an announcement by the leading European historic race series organiser Peter Auto that GT3 cars will now race each year at the one and only Le Mans Classic race event. This was swiftly followed by the news that a whole new GT3 race series will become live in 2026.
This car is eligible for all of these events and is both a competitive and reliable option.
