An interesting and unique opportunity to own an ex-works Audi R8 LMS Ultra — and here's why.
This Audi R8 LMS Ultra was factory-built in 2013 to compete in the 60th Macau Grand Prix, delivered new to Audi Hong Kong as part of Audi’s works satellite programme.
Following its initial race season, the Ultra upgrade components were removed to allow the car to compete under standard Le Mans Series GT3 regulations. As presented today, the car sits in standard Audi R8 LMS specification, with the original Ultra components removed.
This creates a rare opportunity to acquire a factory-built Ultra chassis at entry-level GT3 pricing, with flexibility to:
Compete as-is in GT3B and historic GT3 categories
Refit Ultra components if regulations and programme require
As such, the car offers lower initial cost exposure with strong long-term value potential.
About the Audi R8 LMS Ultra GT3.
The Audi R8 LMS marked a turning point in customer GT racing. Based on the production R8 supercar, the GT3 version was developed by Audi Sport Customer Racing to deliver a highly competitive, low-maintenance, turn-key race car for privateer teams worldwide.
With its mid-mounted 5.2-litre V10 engine, six-speed sequential gearbox and aluminium spaceframe chassis, the R8 LMS quickly proved dominant across global GT3 championships. Audi Sport’s ongoing commitment to customer racing continues to set benchmarks within the category.
The Ultra evolution, introduced for the 2012 season, was designed to return Audi to the top step of the podium. Key Ultra upgrades included:
Wider front wheels
Revised front aerodynamics including wheel arch surfaces and splitter
Larger rear wing
Improved brake and driver cooling
